Objectives:
In cooperation with GMP Architects, a modern airport terminal for Shenyang was designed and developed. The objective of this project was to reorganize and coordinate passenger flows in line with the traffic forecast and Chinese regulations while also creating an architectural centrepiece in terms of contemporary terminal design. Our contribution to the project entailed the preparation of a phased master plan and an operational concept as well as a space allocation programme, a passenger flow concept including gate design and an optimization of the interior terminal organization. Calculating the required capacity and ensuring the flexibility for an extension of up to 70 million annual passengers were the focus of our work. As design partners, both our firms benefited from combining the architectural and airport planning expertise.
